Tinubu made his statement shortly after swearing in two newly appointed ministers Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh from Enugu State and Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro from Plateau State.
Dr. Udeh, a respected Senior Advocate of Nigeria and former Enugu State Attorney General, was appointed to replace Uche Nnaji, who resigned following a certificate controversy. Dr. Doro, on the other hand, succeeds Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, who now serves as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
These appointments, according to the President, reflect his administration’s commitment to competence, accountability, and transparency. During the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held prior to the swearing-in ceremony, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, announced that Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 4.23 percent in the second quarter of 2025 the highest growth rate recorded in nearly a decade outside the post-COVID-19 recovery period.
President Tinubu hailed the growth as a sign of economic resilience and renewed investor confidence. He highlighted the recent $2.3 billion bond oversubscription as further evidence that global investors are regaining trust in Nigeria’s economic reforms.
“The task ahead is immense,” Tinubu stated. “But our focus is clear we are rebuilding confidence in Nigeria’s economy, restoring peace in our communities, and ensuring that prosperity reaches every citizen.”
The President reiterated his administration’s resolve to reduce inflation, boost job creation, and foster a conducive environment for foreign investment.
